If you decide to settle down in Saint-Martin, check that all your electrical appliances operate on 220 volts and 50/60Hz. Some appliances start to work well but wear out very quickly.

Do not bring your TV set with you, it would not work here: Saint-Martin's standard is SECAM/K and the standard in France is SECAM/L.

Your Ennemies in Saint-Martin:

Animal Life: The scolopendrium, looks like a millipede but stings like a scorpio. If you have been sting, see a doctor.

Flora: The manchionnel tree has little round leaves with yellow vein in the middle. Its sap is very poisonous and will burn. Do not stay under it when it's raining because the rain water will dilute the sap and cause heavy burns. It has been almost systematically suppressed on the beaches.
